For the second year, The Vidalia City School Systemwas awarded the Award of Distinction for Excellent Financial Reporting by the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts at the monthly meeting of the Vidalia City Board of Education on May 9, 2017.This award was established to recognize excellence in financial reporting and controls. It encourages governmental organizations to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and recognizes individual organizations that are successful in achieving this goal.
“On behalf of the entire team, I would like to say thank you for recognizing all of our hard work and efforts in maintaining proper controls over the accounting processes. This goal could not have been reached without the entire support staff. Our School Bookkeepers and Finance Department Staff do an excellent job of making sure procedures are followed and consistency is maintained. Although I prepare and present the statements to the Department of Audits and oversee financial operations, we would not be eligible for this Award if everyone had not worked diligently to follow established financial accounting guidelines.” - Norma Croft, Finance Director for Vidalia City Schools
